I love the ritual of tea, perhaps more than I actually like tea itself. As a child, the brightly colored packets always spoke to me of far-flung foreign lands: London, Africa, Madagascar, India. Camel-driven caravans, high adventure, lace tablecloths and white gloves and flowery hats. Okay, yes. I spent most of my time in a dream world then much as now.

As I get older though, I appreciate the small ceremonies that bring time to a halt. Things that remind us that the world isn’t made up entirely of pixels and wires. So it was a distinct pleasure to review this variety pack from Prospect Tea. I think it’s a fun twist that these boxes truly are a variety- you don’t know til you open them how many of which teas are inside and no two boxes are alike unless by happenstance.

The display box opens easily on one side for dispensing. Each box contains 40 pre-measured single serving cups for Keurig-type machines. (If you don’t have a Keurig yet, I’ve actually found it easy to use these cups to brew tea normally!).

The boxes contain a wide variety of flavors and types- some caffeinated, some not: Duke Of Earl Grey, Golden Dragon, Chamomile Chill, Lemon Taxi, Graffiti Burst, Himalayan Spring, Peppermint Heights, Brooklyn Breakfast, Green Power, Prospect Park, White Bengal, Vanilla Chai.

Some of my favorites were the Graffiti Burst, infused with delectable pomegranate flavor; the Lemon Taxi- bright and tart and cheerful; and the Peppermint Heights which would be a great tea for the holidays but I enjoyed the brisk, refreshing flavor right in the middle of summer. The artisinal brewed teas not only taste amazing, the each have a deliciously transportive scent.

I haven’t had time to try each flavor yet, but just like in childhood, the exotic names are weaving stories in my head of adventures yet to be explored.
