This is what happens when all of the weirdness stored in my head collides.

I was on a windswept, moonlit beach at night. I think it was Norway. And apparently also on an episode of ANTM. Tyra Banks whips out this long piece of black glittering fabric and tells us our challenge is to create a bondage-inspired outfit using only this fabric and then pose provocatively with the sea as our Mistress.

So I take out my scissors and cut the fabric into tiny pieces and start throwing them at her. Tyra screams at me for ruining the challenge and expensive designer fabric. I’m standing by the ocean completely naked with little bits of sparkling black cloth swirling around me in the wind and I start explaining to Tyra why bondage fashion is another symptom of the way women have been brainwashed by the patriarchy to be weak and submissive and on display for the pleasure of men.

And then I laughed and ran into the freezing ocean where there were dolphins swimming, but not the rapey kind and also a polar bear.

Most of you with Apple devices know the short cords they come packaged with are sadly inadequate. I’m constantly yanking to hard on them or fighting for elbow room when I have them plugged into the laptop or struggling to find a plug-in spot where they’ll actually reach a table or shelf.

This Apple Certified 6 Feet Lightning Cable is exactly what I needed! It’s specifically designed to be compatible with the latest generations of iPhones, iPads, iPad minis and iPods. It is totally simple to use, you just plug in and go! The USB end plugs into your PC, laptop or into the wall-charger converter that comes with most Apple products.

I have a whole range of Apple products- the ones that get the most use are my iPad mini and my iPod Touch. I had no problem at all using the cord, in terms of compatibility or speed. The six feet of cord length was amazing. My devices now comfortably reach anywhere I want to plug them into without any hassle. I’m pretty sure I saw the girls eyeing my new cord jealously, so I may have o stock up on several!

We had our first real cold snap the other day- much too early and much too cold, I might mention! It got me thinking about how much I appreciate a hot drink or a warm lunch on a blustery day. Just that small comfort can warm both your tummy and your heart and make the day glow a little brighter.

This was the perfect chance to test out the Small Lunch Jar from Mira. Mine, of course, is in an adorable Hello Kitty  pink shade. It felt like a hot chocolate kind of day, so I dug out my delicious stock of Starbucks peppermint cocoa, mixed it up nice and hot, poured it into the handy wide-mouthed container and tucked it into my bag to have during my afternoon errands.

The 10 oz capacity jar has a heavy-duty feeling, with a premium grade 18/8 entirely stainless steel interior. The outside is the pretty pink shade with a brown lid that twists in and feels secure and leak-proof. The box says the insulated jar is able to keep items hot for up to 5 hours and cold up to 10 hours. In my tests I found this to be true. Later that afternoon, the cocoa was still perfectly hot and definitely took the chill off of my day.

The jar is also BPA free and contains no phthalate, which is important to me with an item I’m going to be reusing often for food. I could easily see myself using this all winter for hot soups and drinks and during the warm months to keep fresh fruit cold for a refreshing snack. These would also be great for football games on brisk fall evenings!

Adovia is a company I’ve come to really like for their all-natural, mineral-based skincare products that leave my skin feeling spa-refreshed and beautiful. Thus I was more than happy to try out their Natural Sulfur Soap with Dead Sea Salt.

I allowed my young teen niece to test this one since it was more fitting for her skin type. With a 3% sulfur content, it has natural antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties, while your skin’s natural moisture levels are balanced and optimized with olive oil, Dead Sea minerals and aloe vera extract.

The soap doesn’t have a noticeable scent, which I was curious about beforehand because of the sulfur. It went on mildly sudsy and left her skin feeling tingly clean and slightly tight yet still very soft. After about a week of daily use she noticed a visible tightening of pores, less blackheads and less breakouts in general.

I’ve encouraged her to keep using it to see how it works in the long-term, possibly interchanging it with anothet cleanser if this becomes too drying. I wish I’d had this soap available as a teen, I feel like it’s really going to help regulate the overall health of her skin. I might even get myself a bar to use for occasional breakouts!

The switch from summer to fall and winter is always a tough time for my skin, especially since autumn is my favorite time of year and I tend to spend a lot of time outside with chilly winds drying out my face. I’m always on the lookout for the perfect moisturizer that will keep my skin soft and glowing no matter what the weather brings.

3305b0b2c9e1abfec15d533daee83e0c89d8ebd4In my ongoing quest, I decided to try this Complete Anti-Aging Moisturizer by Foxbrim. I’ve used some of their products in the past and been pleased with the results, so I was excited to test this one out. What I like about this is that it’s formulated for even sensitive skin. So though it contains Retinol, it’s combined with soothing antioxidants that won’t leave skin red or flaky. In fact, the number one ingredient is Aloe Vera which we all know provides a cooling, soothing sensation and helps with inflammation and itching.

The cream comes out light and creamy from the convenient pump bottle. It can be applied all over the face and neck. It absorbed quickly into my skin and didn’t leave any ind of oily or greasy residue. Something great about this cream as opposed to ones that just moisturize- it actually clears your pores and tightens them, which helps with bumps and breakouts. I felt like it made a marked difference in the size of my pores and in the overall smoothness and radiance of my skin. I think with more extended use, it’s likely that it would help slow the signs of aging. For now I’m happy with the shiny, glowing appearance of my skin.

Another thing I love about Foxbrim is that their cream uses only 100% natural and organic ingredients with no parabens or additives. PLUS their products are not tested on animals and come with a money back guarantee!

I have to admit we’re kind of device junkies around here. From phones to iPads, iPad minis, iPods, a Kindle, a Samsung tablet…even the baby has her own “epad”, as she calls it, packed with little kid learning games and shows. So much of our work and socialization is online these days, it’s kind of important to always be connected. Plus I personally love having music with me throughout the day, my own personal little soundtrack. I truly never get over the amazement of being able to carry thousands of songs right in my pocket.

However, one of the downfalls of a digital life is the constant need to plug in and recharge. If you’re like us, you have drawers full of cords and chargers, some of which don’t even go to items you own anymore. They litter the dashboard of your car, the bottom of your purse. And here they’re constantly getting “misplaced” and “borrowed”, though mysteriously no one ever knows where they went. Don’t even get me started on traveling, when we spend far too much time maneuvering for plug-in space at hotel rooms and then trying to remember to collect all those chargers on the way out.

All of this is leading up to why I LOVE the the +LIFEGUARD MINI 1! This is a portable external battery that comes to the rescue when your phone or other compatible device needs a charge. It contains a smart plug & play Samsung-grade battery that makes charging on the go a total breeze.

It truly couldn’t be easier to use. You simply plug the Lifeguard Mini into a computer USB port or wall charger, letting it fully charge, which can take about 5 hours on a wall charger or up to 12 while hooked to the computer. Then slip it in your purse, backpack or briefcase until needed. When your phone or iPod starts blinking at you that it’s running low, plug your device into the handy Lifeguard Mini. Boom! You’re good to go. It’s so nice to have the peace of mind that this backup device offers.

Another nice thing is that it is lightweight and easily portable, it doesn’t take up much space. Right now they’re including an Apple-compatible lightning cable, which is a $14.00 value all by itself! They don’t mention this in the list of compatible devices, but this is actually also handy for anyone who vapes with rechargeable electronic cigarettes. Especially if you’re using those to quit smoking, having this extra layer of security on-hand can be a huge relief.

I can definitely see getting more of these for the rest of the family. I’m always on the lookout for useful stocking stuffers and I think these fit the bill perfectly!

Even though swimsuit season is quickly slipping away to an autumn chill here, that’s no reason to give up on having a beach-perfect body! In fact I think the cold months are a great time to work on  getting that workout routine down solid and also perfecting your skin from the outside.

That’s where products like NuElle Triple Action Anti Cellulite Concentrate by Skin QR Organics come in handy. It contains an impressive list of all-natural and organic ingredients, including the top 20 known botanicals that assist in weight loss and cellulite reduction, like caffeine, L’Carnitine, Butcher’s Broom, Bladderwrack, Ivy, Coconut Oil, Cat’s Claw, Cayenne, Juniper, Beeswax…on and on!

I liked the light and airy feel of the cream from the convenient pump bottle. I also like knwoing that it’s helping to detoxify from the inside while firming and tightening the surface of my skin. The cream is formulated to lock the ingredients onto the skin’s surface, creating a sauna effect, which reduces water retention and helps fight fat cell clusters.

I personally found that it made my skin extremely soft and well-moisturized. After a few weeks of use. the skin on my thighs and butt felt smoother and firm to the touch. I think it would take a few weeks more of vigilant application to measure any real cellulite-removing effects, however since my main goal is prevention I feel like this cream accomplished what I needed it to do.
