Yorkie Splash and Shine Review + Giveaway! Ends 8/30

Ever since I somehow gained joint custody of the Mighty Thor Thunderpaw, I’ve been in charge of his grooming. These are better known as his spa days, which usually happen on Sundays. Have I mentioned that he’s the strangest little dog in the history of the world? Among his other quirks (like his love for raw peppers and tomatoes, the way he likes to hold onto his chewy toy and go completely limp while I swoooosh him across the floor like a mop, and the way he has admiring fans all over town- when my mom takes him on errands with her, every store she stops at knows him and gives him treats. One store which features a drive-through where they usually give him handfuls of fresh pepperoni has gone so far as to train new employees about who Thor is and what treat he must be given. When the drive-through was blocked one day, the girl working in the store asked if he was in the car and actually walked outside just to take him his pepperoni. Seriously!) is his love for bathy-time and grooming. If he hears the word “spa” he goes right over to my sink and dances around waiting. He climbs my shelves like some sort of mountain goat in search of his favorite brush, carries it to me, drops it at my feet and then sits there staring at me until I brush him. I guess the chances of me having a normal dog, even one that isn’t really mine, were highly unlikely anyway.

We’ve gone through several different bath products in his short life. Since he’s so particular and fancy, I figure he deserves the very best. I thought I’d give Yorkie Splash and Shine a chance. Thor is a Maltese, not a Yorkie, but I feel like they share many of the same skin and coat issues. One of my main problems with him is the way his long fur tends to tangle and felt together in mats no matter how often he’s brushed. It’s particularly bad on his ears. Right now he’s rockin’ a short summer cut but I’d like to grow his fur long again for the fall and winter.

Yorkie Splash was created after searching for a product that worked well with all different types of Yorkie coat- from cottony to coarse, to silky, to oily, plus the sensitive skin little dogs often experience. Again these are the same issues you find with Maltese, who often start out with a cottony young coat which grows out to a silky long coat that can become oily or coarse as they age.  The company endeavored to formulate a product that could handle all of these issues.

The shampoo worked into a nice lather that easily washed away all the dirt Monsieur Thunderpaw manages to coat himself with. The conditioner was rich and creamy- I like to comb out any knots while he’s in the sink and the conditioner helped the comb slide easily through his fur. I noticed the main ingredient in all of these products is Aloe, which I’m sure feels super soothing on his delicate pink skin. Also, I must mention the smell! The scent is just lovely, not overpoweringly floral or sickly sweet, and lingered in his fur long after the bath.

The detangler/finishing spray is going to be my new best friend, I’m certain. It can be used on wet or dry fur and will be perfect for all those demanded brushing sessions.

The combination of products left his fur so fluffy and soft, it was like petting a little lamb. All of his adoring fans noticed it, too. A very nice experience all around! I would definitely recommend this to anyone with not only a Yorkie, but any small breed of dog with complicated fur issues.

The best part is, the company wants one of my readers to try out a fun Travel Sized Set of Yorkie Splash and Shine for themselves!
