As I mentioned in my recent post on finding the best family car, back to school time is when many of us become most concerned with car safety. Whether you’re dropping young ones off at school each morning, chauffeuring them to after-school activities, or handing the keys to a new teen driver, you want to do everything you can to ensure that everyone reaches their destination safely.
One product I recently tried has been helping to give me that peace of mind. The Slime Flat Tire Repair Kit: Digital Series is something I’m likely to keep in any car I drive for years to come.
The name may sound a little funny, but sometimes slime is good. If you’re at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, for example. Or fighting ghosts in an 80’s throwback film. OR if you suddenly realize you have a hole in your tire and want to be back on the road in ten minutes.
The kit comes in a handy plastic zippered carrying pouch with a handle and is small enough to stow easily in your trunk or under a seat. If you’re mechanically challenged, don’t panic. It is super simple to use and is actually laid out in four numbered, idiot-proof steps. (I say this lovingly. I’m more artistically than mechanically inclined myself. Let’s just say sometimes I’ve been known to stand around pulling on doors with giant “push” signs right above the handle.)
You can use the Slime Flat Tire Repair Kit to simply add air to your tires. This is pretty fantastic by itself, and means you’ll never have to mess with gas station air hoses again. Step one involves a simple dial which lets you choose air only mode or air plus sealant. In step two you attach the built-in air hose to your tire valve stem. For step three, you plug the inflator into your car’s accessory power outlet. Step four is an easy button push that inflates your tire and adds sealant if selected. You then disconnect the inflator and drive slowly for a few miles, giving the sealant time to find the hole and close it. The system includes a built-in pressure gauge so you can easily judge when your tires are full. It even deflates your tires if they’ve been overinflated.
The whole repair takes around ten minutes and requires no tools or car jack. Once used, you can purchase refill cartridges of sealant.
I think this is an important and useful item to have on hand, and I want you guys to have one too! The company has been nice enough to offer one of my readers the chance to try the Slime Flat Tire Repair Kit. Yay!
