Pure African Shea Butter Review

I’ve always seen shea butter as an ingredient in beauty products, but never really considered trying it in its pure form. This Pure Shea Butter from Adovia turned out to be quite a treat!

Apparently, shea butter is made from the nuts of the Karite tree in Africa. The nuts are cracked open and roasted to give the butter a nice consistency. Then the butter is scooped out of the nuts and kneaded to make it more spreadable. From what I’ve read, it’s good for helping dry skin, psoriasis, eczema, acne and stretch marks among other things.

Opening the big tub, I could immediately smell the nutty, natural scent. The shea butter is incredibly thick and rich but doesn’t feel greasy at all. I decided to use a bit in my moisture-starved hair and also as a body moisturizer. My hair felt so soft and replenished after just one use. I think I would use this every few days instead of daily unless you have seriously dry and unruly hair.

It left my skin glowing with a visible sheen of moisture and softness that I loved. I think this would be perfect especially for rough elbows, knees and feet that need extra pampering. I’d like to try experimenting by adding my own essential oils for scent and other benefits or perhaps a color tint for my own lip balm.

I also love that this is a fair trade product, produced by women farmers in Ghana.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
