National Geographic has been one of my favorite magazines for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, I would dive into stacks of old copies, instantly transported to far-off lands and exotic tribes. It was probably the number one thing that influenced my wanderlust. Those were the grown-up mags, but National Geographic Kids offers a variety of books and resources aimed specifically for children. They offer not only magazines, but websites, apps, television series, games and events.

The National Geographic Kids Almanac is the most popular almanac on the planet. I can see why! The 2019 version is thick and glossy, at 350 pages, and is absolutely packed with fascinating facts, stunning photos, meticulous maps and more. We instantly started reading it together as a family and the room was filled with “Oh wow!” and “Hey, did you know….!” It’s perfect for young kids, who in my experience adore memorizing strange bits of information to wow their friends with later. It can be digested in small portions or read straight through.

The almanac is arranged by topic, from Amazing Animals to Science and Technology, to Fun and Games, as well as covering history, culture, climate, geography, religion and much more. In a cute nod to 2019, they have lists of the 19 top facts, animals, etc!

Your child can participate in the Lions Forever Almanac Challenge fora chance to win a $500 gift card to host a lion conservation party! The Almanac retails for $14.99 and can be  found wherever books are sold.

Explorer Academy: The Nebula Secret  is the first book in a 7-book series lunching with National Geographic Kids new imprint Under the Stars. These books will focus on core subjects such as geography, STEM, history, exploration and world cultures.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever encountered something quite like this book before. It’s fact-based fiction, but it’s much more than just a story. It actually draws kids in and forces them to use their minds while interacting with the book. It features code-breaking, puzzles and a need to use problem-solving skills. Also, the book itself is beautifully designed and produced, with an embossed cover, beautiful illustrations and the most gorgeous end papers. This is truly a book that will become a keepsake for your child.

Something super cool, you and your child can enter to win a trip much like the one in Explorer Academy- n 8-day ocean voyage to Glacier National Park in Alaska!
