My mom is a sweet but no-nonsense kind of lady. She isn’t one to mince words or delicately skirt around subjects like LBL. Her advice to me has always been along the lines of: your body is going to do weird things as it gets older! Just be happy you have all these modern conveniences and inventions around that were never available when I was your age. It makes life so much easier to have the correct product that you actually need.
That’s why, instead of purchasing period pads for issues like LBL- which many women seem to do out of some sense of embarrassment or possibly just confusion- it makes more sense to buy Poise products. Poise brand has introduced new Poise Thin-Shape pads, which are up to 40% thinner than original Poise pads and are made specifically for bladder leaks with the trusted absorbency you’ve come to expect from Poise. These new thinner pads are designed to move with your body while still providing extraordinary protection.
You might be asking yourself, what the heck is LBL? Lyndon Baines Joh… No. Little black dr…still no! LBL refers to Light Bladder Leakage, which are little leaks that can be triggered by everyday occurrences like coughing, sneezing, laughing and exercise. One in three women experience this issue! Weak pelvic floor muscles, pregnancy, childbirth and weight gain are just a few LBL contributors.
Just as no two women are alike, there’s no single reason that LBL happens. Some of the most common things that lead to uninvited leaks include:
•Physical changes from childbirth, pregnancy, hysterectomy or menopause
•Complications from surgery, stroke, or chronic diseases like diabetes, multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson’s disease
•Bladder or urinary tract infections
•Bladder irritants (certain foods and beverages)
Women deserve the best options for managing LBL. Whether you leak a little when you laugh, or sometimes have a sudden urge to go, Poise gives you one less thing to worry about any time of day or night. Visit the Poise website now to request free samples and coupons of Poise® pads and liners.
Now that you’re fully armed with the proper products that you need, you may find yourself with a whole lot of extra period pads lying around that you’ve mistakenly purchased. Fret not, my loves! I’ve come up with a cute and fun craft to help you recycle those period pads. Get the girls together for a crafting and wine night. But definitely have your Poise handy too, I can’t be held responsible for any laughter-induced LBL that might ensue.
For this craft you will need:
- One unused period pad per mask
- A decorative cocktail napkin or other pretty paper
- A flowered lei
- Assorted dimensional paints
First remove the pad from its wrapper. If it has wings, set them free by clipping them off. Unfold your cocktail napkin and lay the unfolded pad on top. Trace around the pad onto the napkin. Cut out the shape from the napkin. Now remove the center strip from the pad to reveal the sticky portion that usually adheres to your panties. Run a thin line of glue around the outer edge of the pad. Now line up and place the cocktail napkin shape, design side up, onto your pad. Press down the edges gently but firmly. Let dry.
You can draw your face with the pen first or just go crazy freehanding it. Let your creativity shine. First outline the features in black to make them really stand out, then go back in with some color. Realistic or fanciful- heck it doesn’t even have to be a face. You can cover your mask with stars and hearts if you want. When you’re done, sprinkle the whole thing generously in glitter and let dry.
Measure a length of flowered lei to fit your head. Leaving a few extra inches, snip that length of lei. Glue one end to each side of the decorated pad.
Ta-da! You have a cute and functional sleep mask!
