How to Get Chloe’s Look For Less!

The goal here was to recreate a celebrity look for under $500. So of course I chose the perpetually stylish and original Chloe Sevigny. She has been a fashion icon for me dating all the way back to her role in Kids (the searingly realistic 1995 film about a group of NYC teens drifting seemingly without supervision through the dark tidepools of drugs, sex and disease.) The recent cancellation of her new crime drama Those Who Kill by A&E after two (TWO!) episodes was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve seen in recent memory. I hear it’s moving to LMN, though, and I hope those silly executives weep at their loss.

Anyway! Back to the outfit. I love how Chloe is unafraid of mixing pattern and texture and always looks so effortlessly cool. I’ve tried to recreate the use of pattern in the short, structured jacket from People Tree and the cute paisley tee from Kohl’s (under $10.00!). The leather-like shorts from Miss Selfridge are a bit different than her satiny hotpants, but are a fun play on a recent trend. I finished the look off with a pair of ultra-shiny oxblood booties from DKNY, an understated satchel from Nine West and movie star glasses by Michael Kors, coming in so far under budget that you could still afford to go out and show off your chic new look!
