Epicurean Organics

These spices from Epicurean Organics were part of the #shiftconlovepackage. They straggled in a little late, but they ended up being one of my favorite items out of all the fun Shift Con stuff, so I wanted to go ahead and post about them. As usual, I received samples for free but my thoughts can’t be bought.

First of all, the jars have a nice weighty feel and the pretty labels give them a high-quality polish. The Epicurean Organics spices are all certified organic, kosher, non-GMO, grown without pesticides or herbicides and sold by farmers under fair trade practices.

When I opened the first jar and removed the inner seal, I was immediately blown away by the delicious aroma. I could basically just carry this around and sniff it all day. This was the Mediterranean Seasoning which is a blend of oregano, garlic, rosemary, thyme and fennel. Since most of my favorite foods are Italian or Mediterranean, I can put this use this in so many recipes, from pastas and sauces to breads and even sprinkled on pizza.  This is the next best thing to snipping fresh herbs from your own garden to cook with.

They also sent me a jar of Garlic Pepper, which has a bold, deep flavor- just spicy enough without being overwhelming.

Another of my favorites was the Cyprus Flake Salt. I have a weird obsession with fancy salts and have tried everything from deep red volcanic salt to grey French sea salt to pink Himalayan. The Cyprus Salt rank right up at the top. I’ve found myself using it to finish everything from roasted veggies to macaroni, chicken dishes- even french fries. You really just need a  tiny bit and I feel it elevates simple, everyday foods.

I can’t wait to try more of their offerings ad I would highly recommend them.
