BA Star Tropical Eyeshadow Palette Review and Giveaway! 2 Winners, Ends 09/13

Makeup that blends so perfectly with your skin that you hardly notice it’s there is always nice. Just a slightly more perfectly polished version of you. However, sometimes you don’t want to blend in. You want to stand out, bold and bright from the rest of the crowd.

This new Tropical Eyeshadow Palette from BA Star can certainly help you do just that. Even thought the summer will soon be fading, we still have a bit of time to embrace the balmy temperatures before the crisp crunch of autumn descends. This island-inspired palette seems perfect for beach-side preening and sweaty nights dancing in the club. The colors practically pop and sizzle- Lime, Turquoise, Purple, Hot Pink and Silver!

BA Star is the pro makeup that’s the number one best seller used by cheerleaders and dancers, but now you can take advantage of their expertise! They also offer a tube of Glue Eyeshadow Base that works much like a primer to give you a perfect surface on which to apply the shadows, plus it helps keep the colors from smudging or smearing.

I found that the glue is a must if you want the colors to really show up brightly. If you’re after a more subtle, pastel look I would forgo the glue and just use the shadows directly on you skin.

Here is a swatch test of the palette on my arm in natural sunlight, with glue base underneath.  With the base, the colors hold very true to the shades you see in the palette.

I found the pink and silver applied without base make a really pretty, subtle day look. My only issue is the brush- the palette comes with its own small two-sided brush. I recommend using your own set of good quality blending brushes to get the most from these shadows.

I’ve also already started thinking about Halloween, and this would be a great palette to use through the spooky season. The professional quality ensures your costume makeup won’t melt halfway through the night, while the vivid colors can be used in a wide variety of creations.

I was drawn to the blue, so I did a theatrical mermaid eye. I used a combination of the blue, purple and a little pink with silver to highlight. Lots of blending. This is over the glue base and I used the glue to help adhere the little gems. I finished the look with Maybelline Volum’ Express Mega Plush Mascara.

The shadows really do stay in place- I was walking around with slightly blue eyebrows after the first cleansing! But a second round with my FAB cleansing pads fixed that right up.

Now for the exciting part! BA Star has generously offered to give a Tropical Eyeshadow Palette plus a tube of Glue Eyeshadow Base to TWO of my awesome readers. How cool is that? I’d love to see the looks you create with these fun colors- whether you have a little cheerleader in your life, have a cute costume idea for Halloween or just want to go bold in your daily look.
